Storyteller Jay O'Callahan is back with a collection reflecting his unique blend of humor and history, folktales and family stories. The title story, "The Herring Shed," comes from O'Callahan's summer in Pugwash, Nova Scotia, when - in exchange for his stories - Charlie Robertson and Maggie Thomas told him about their lives and experiences on the shores of the Northumberland Strait. "Háry János" is based on an opera by Zoltán Kodály in which the title character tells of feats he never really accomplished - but does it with such spirit that no one cares. The other stories include "Home on the Range," "The Iceman," "Connor and the Leprechaun," and "The Cliffs of Culdurragh."
