On September 25, 1957, an irate President Dwight D. Eisenhower ordered federal troops to converge on Little Rock, Arkansas to see that black students were allowed to enter a white high school. Arkansas Governor Orval Faubus, a staunch opponent of racial integration, defied federal law earlier that month by forcefully preventing blacks from entering the school. This is President Eisenhower's announcement of his intent to use "whatever force was necessary" to enforce the federal law of integration.
